Historical record, Fashion --------

The "Western Square End" is also called the "Western String Tie", "Western Ribbon Tie", or the "Plantation Tie". The word “plantation” in this case refers to the plantation owners of the early 1800s in the American south.

There seems to be various opinions about the origin of this tie, but the point that it originated in the American Continent seems to be common.

"Western Bow tie" was also adopted by the young generation who were influenced by "Rock 'n' roll" and the "Edwardian Style (ca.1901-11)" in London in the 1950’s. They were called "Teddy Boy" or "Teds".

This "Western Square End" is sometimes called the "Colonel Sanders Bow" because his white suit and this bow tie design was his trademark.

The "Western Bow tie" needs to be made with soft materials like strings, ribbons, or soft cloth. There are "Western Pointed end" and "Western Oblique end" besides "Western Square end", and there are various lengths of the dropped tip part.
