本結び
Square Knot / Sailor’s Knot
This is a way to tie an Overhand-knot once from each side and make a Square-knot. Historically, it can be confirmed by the photographs of gentlemen wearing Cravat since the 17th century. Also, since the 19th century it became a scarf knot used for European and American navy-uniform, and therefore it is also called Sailor's-Knot.
本結び / 固結び / セーラー結び / 固[かた]結び / 細[こま]結び / 真[ま]結び
｢本結び｣は｢止め結び｣を左右から一度ずつに結び、四角い結び目をつくる方法です。歴史的には17世紀以降のクラバットというネックウェアに確認できます。また、19世紀以降は欧米の海軍服に使われるスカーフ結びになりました。それはセーラー結び(Sailor’s Knot) とも呼ばれています。
