This shape is designed with a curved tip.  Historically, there is evidence that it was used from late 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century and can be confirmed by portrait of Giacomo Puccini,the Italian opera composer. It is also a vintage design that can be found in American magazines in the 1950s.
