The "Ultra-narrow square-end" and "Narrow square-end" bow tie is narrower than the "Standard butterfly" and has also been called the "Slim bow", "Club bow", or the "Batwing bow".
The word "Club" is thought to originate from popularization as a dress tie for night social club in the USA in the 1930s. On the other hand, the word "club" has the meaning of "thick-stick", and so there are other theories based on this meaning.
The "Narrow square-end" was popular even in the latter half of the 20th century in the USA, but today it is used only by limited bow tie users as a rare design. Exceptionally, in Japan, there are still many taxi drivers using Narrow shaped bow ties in the Kansai area.
歴史・流行 --------
このウルトラナロー形とナロー形は、狭い幅のスクエアエンドで、スリム形、クラブボウ、バットウィング(コウモリの翼)などとも呼ばれて来ました。
｢クラブボウ｣という言葉は、1930年代のアメリカにおいて夜の社交クラブの礼装用ネクタイとして、普及していたことに由来すると考えられます。一方で「Club」には「こん棒」の意味もあり、その形が由来とする意見もあります。
20世紀後半以後も、ナロー形はアメリカなどで普及していましたが、現在は希少なデザインとして、一部の蝶ネクタイのユーザーにだけ使われています。また例外的に日本の関西エリアのタクシーでは、現在もナロー形の蝶ネクタイを結んでいるドライバーが多くいます。
